Day 1 Cusco – Socma – Rayan – Puccaqasa

Set your alarms for an early start, as the Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu is about to start!

Cusco to Socma.

Our journey kicks off at 5:00 am. The we’ll drive for two hours, heading straight to the heart of the traditional Inca community of Socma. Here, we’ll fuel up with a gourmet breakfast, energizing ourselves for the day’s adventure.

Perolniyoc.

Our trek begins with a scenic trail to the breathtaking Perolniyoc Waterfall. This majestic natural wonder provides an idyllic setting for a photo break, allowing us to capture memories against the stunning backdrop. After soaking in the views we will continue our hike, reaching the Perolniyoc Archeological Site in about an hour and a half. This site offers a fascinating glimpse into Inca history and architecture.

We will trek for another 2 hours, then arrive to Rayan for a well-deserved lunch. Situated at an altitude of 3,700 meters (12,139 feet), Rayan serves as the perfect midday stop, offering a chance to relax and enjoy a hearty meal.

Puccaqasa at 4,400 m (14,436 ft).

Later, we will embark on the most challenging segment of the day’s trek: a two-and-a-half-hour uphill hike to the first pass, Puccaqasa 4,400 m (14,436 ft), it offers an spectacular 360-degree view of the surrounding landscapes. The sense of achievement upon reaching the top is unparalleled.

The day’s journey concludes with a final half-hour walk through rolling valleys, leading us to our campsite. Once you arrive to camp you’ll have nice warm beverages and snacks waiting. Our tents, already set up, await us to settle in and relax. The day ends with a delicious dinner, setting the tone for the rest of our experience.

Day 2 Puccaqasa – Quychicassa – Inti Punku – Veronica View Hotel

You will wake up to a new day on the Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu Trek with a hot mug of tea or coffee, served right in your tent.

This warm wake-up call sets the stage for a day that’s both scenic and relaxed. After savoring a hearty breakfast, gear up for today’s hike, which promises stunning vistas and unique experiences.

Our journey today begins with a two-hour walk along a rolling valley, leading to the summit of the Quychicassa Pass. At an elevation of 4,450 m (14,599 ft), spectacular views of the glacially carved valleys below, providing a perfect opportunity for breathtaking photos.

From the heights of Quychicassa Pass, we will join a 1-hour descent down steep switchbacks, an exhilarating segment of our trek. The path then eases into a gentle downhill walk towards the site known as Inti Punku, or the Sun Gate. Here you will get your first expansive view over the valley, dominated by the picturesque, snow-capped Veronica Mountain.

At the Inti Punku, we will savor another gourmet meal amidst this impressive archaeological site. From there the first hour of our descent will be steep, presenting a thrilling challenge. Day 3 Veronica View Hotel– Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

The third day of your Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu with 69 Explorer will begin with a serene morning and the spectacular view of Veronica Mountain. This day will offer a more relaxed pace, allowing you to fully absorb the beauty and tranquility of your surroundings.

We will start the day leisurely, embracing a relaxing morning at the spa or wandering through our gardens. The gardens are a haven of native flowers and wildlife, providing a peaceful retreat where you can unwind and rejuvenate. This morning is all about recovery and enjoyment, giving you time to reflect on the journey so far.

Train to Aguas Calientes.

After savoring another delightful gourmet lunch, we’ll take on a short 15-minute drive to the Ollantaytambo train station. Board the 1:27 pm Vistadome train, renowned for its panoramic windows and comfortable seating, ensuring a scenic journey to Aguas Calientes. This train ride itself is an experience, offering stunning views of the Andean landscape.

On arrival in Aguas Calientes, check into your hotel, settling in before exploring the town. Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, is nestled in the mountains and offers a variety of sightseeing and shopping opportunities. It’s the perfect place to soak up the local culture and perhaps pick up some souvenirs.

The day concludes with a delightful dinner at a local restaurant. Here, you’ll enjoy the culinary delights of the region, a fitting end to a relaxing day. We’ll then retreat to our hotel for an overnight stay, resting up for the next day’s adventures.

Day 4 Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Tour to Machu Picchu.

The fourth day of your Inca Quarry Trek to Machu Picchu with 69 Explorer is the climax of your adventure, where you’ll witness the stunning beauty of the Machu Picchu Citadel at sunrise. This day promises an unforgettable experience, filled with exploration and breathtaking views.

We will start the day early with an energizing breakfast at the hotel in Aguas Calientes. After catching one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu, we will experience the magical sunrise over the ancient ruins.

The guide will then lead you on a 2-hour tour of Machu Picchu. You will explore the most significant parts of the citadel. Learn about its division into agricultural, residential, and religious sectors, gaining insights into the ingenuity and lifestyle of the Incas.

After soaking in the panoramic views, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included in the package). If you have pre-booked an extra hike, you will have the time to complete your hike to Huayna Picchu after the guided tour.

Depending on the timing of your train departure, you might have some free time in Aguas Calientes. You can spend your time shopping, sightseeing, visiting the local museum, or relaxing in the hot springs.

Return to Cusco.

Our return journey begins with the Expedition train, departing at either 2:55 pm or 3:20 pm, back to Ollantaytambo. This train ride follows the course of the spectacular Urubamba River. The views are stunning, especially the sections with beautiful whitewater rapids and the sight of the Wiñay Wayna ruins high on the canyon wall.

Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, the driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco in our private vehicle. We anticipate arriving at your hotel by 7:00 pm.

What is the cancellation or refund policy?

Client Cancellation:

To cancel, send a written notice to “69 Explorer.” The initial deposit is not refundable. Check your insurance for potential coverage for cancellation reasons.

Cancellations more than 15 days before departure result in a 50% deposit forfeiture. For cancellations between 7 and 15 days before departure, if full payment has been made, 50% of the total cost will be refunded. No refunds are given for cancellations less than 48 hours before departure or for partial tour cancellations.

Alterations/Cancellations by Us:

In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as technical issues, adverse weather, strikes, government actions, or civil disturbances, “69 Explorer” will try to provide alternative arrangements or equivalent trips, without offering refunds. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary, but we will aim to maintain the agreed services.

Significant changes will be communicated before your trip, with comparable alternative plans offered. Any additional costs from these changes are the client’s responsibility. We cannot compensate for expenses like international flights, visas, vaccinations, etc.

If “69 Explorer” cancels a tour, a full refund will be provided.
