Itinerary

Your Amazon journey begins in Puerto Maldonado. From there you’ll board a motorized canoe for a scenic boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to your jungle lodge in the Tambopata rainforest. After settling in, set out on a thrilling canopy trail and zipline adventure. Walk high above the forest floor and glide through the treetops.

In the afternoon, kayak down the Madre de Dios River toward the Isla de los Monos (Monkey Island). Here, you’ll encounter several species of monkeys, including capuchins, squirrel monkeys, and spider monkeys, in their natural habitat. As the day winds down, you’ll return to the lodge by boat while watching for nocturnal animals along the riverbanks. Spot caimans, nightjars, and glowing insects under the Amazon starry sky.

After breakfast, take a short boat ride to the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. Following, enjoy a guided jungle walk through lush vegetation to reach Lake Sandoval, a stunning oxbow lake. You’ll board a wooden canoe to explore its calm waters. The lake is home to giant otters, black caimans, and a variety of birds like hoatzins, herons, and macaws. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the rainforest before heading back to the lodge in the late afternoon.

At night, you’ll take on a guided night hike around the lodge area to discover the rainforest’s hidden nocturnal world. Spot frogs, tarantulas, and other insects while listening to the rhythmic sounds of the jungle coming to life after dark.

  • Personal Expenses: Any additional expenses such as souvenirs, laundry services, or additional tours are not included.
  • Emergency Transportation: If you need to leave the trek early due to illness or other reasons, the cost of emergency transport is not covered.
  • Entrance Fees for Optional Sites: Some side trips or additional archaeological sites do have entrance fees not included in the tour package.

This is a 3 days tour in the Peruvian Amazon. You will explore the jungle via river boat rides, kayak adventures, jungle hikes and more.

All year long is possible; the best weather is during dry season: May to September.

All permits and entrances are handled by us and included in the price.

A maximum of 12 passengers.

Client Cancellation:

To cancel, send a written notice to “69 Explorer.” The initial deposit is not refundable. Check your insurance for potential coverage for cancellation reasons.

Cancellations more than 15 days before departure result in a 50% deposit forfeiture. For cancellations between 7 and 15 days before departure, if full payment has been made, 50% of the total cost will be refunded. No refunds are given for cancellations less than 48 hours before departure or for partial tour cancellations.

Alterations/Cancellations by Us:

In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as technical issues, adverse weather, strikes, government actions, or civil disturbances, “69 Explorer” will try to provide alternative arrangements or equivalent trips, without offering refunds. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary, but we will aim to maintain the agreed services.

Significant changes will be communicated before your trip, with comparable alternative plans offered. Any additional costs from these changes are the client’s responsibility. We cannot compensate for expenses like international flights, visas, vaccinations, etc.

If “69 Explorer” cancels a tour, a full refund will be provided.

All 69 Explorer trips are guided by Local Experienced, English-speaking guides familiar with the area and relevant facts.

For our Group Experiences we recommend 12 – 65 years old.
