Itinerary
Our Ausangate Ebike Tour from Sigrenacocha to Pacchanta Ride is the most demanding, yet the most beautiful ride we offer. It starts at 4206m and peaks at 4804m and covers over 20km of riding over the Alpine.
From Cusco to Mahuayani
We will start early with your pick up at 3am from your hotel in Cusco. We will have about three and a half hours to our destination. Along the way, we will pass small community villages and scenic views. Then we will drive to Mahuayani, where we will make a stop for breakfast. Then, close from here we will start our ride.
Once at the trailhead our guide will run a trail briefing covering safety instructions, explanations about the trail and a crash course on ebike’s riding. Time to ride bikes!
Adventure into the Andean Puna
The first segment of the trail will be a light uphill along a stream that comes down the Sigrenacocha lake. This segment is about 4km/2.49miles long. It climbs along a beautiful canyon, where we will see the transition from the valley floor to the alpine landscapes and terrain.
Prepare to be amazed by the mind-blowing views of Sigrenacocha lake at 4400m. Located in the base of Hualipuyoc, it has a characteristic turquoise color, being the main tributary a glacier melt stream. Here we will make a quick stop for pictures and rehydrate.
Following our stop, we will ride around the lake for about 5km/3miles, which will take us to the first serious challenge of the day. A steep climb of 2.8km/1.8miles, that summits on a unique terrain.
This moon like landscape over the slopes of Callangate will be the scenario for the following segment. A flattish Alpine trail over sandy and rocky terrain, that leads to our highest point of the day at 4804m. Here we will take a break to admire the Armaccocha lake and Callangate mountain. Here we will take a break for snacks and pictures.
The upcoming segment will be downhill for 5km/3.1miles following a stream that starts in the Armacchocha lake. This will be a nice change before the last push of the day. Along this segment we will enjoy the views of this canyon and the fauna around the area.
Last Push & Hot Springs
Time to attack our last climb of the day! We will gain another 243m in 2.2km, summiting at 4670m. Once at the summit we will be able see our goal of the day, Pacchanta. This last segment consists of a flowy downhill to the hot springs in the bottom.
Finally, in Pacchanta we will enjoy the hot springs and our lunch. To wrap up, we will return to Cusco with an estimated time of arrival at 6:00 p.m.
Note: This tour can be combined with the 7 lakes loop tour and can be done in 2 days; Great deal!
