On the first day of our 2 Days – Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu tour. We will initiate a journey through the heart of the Incan empire. It will start in Cusco and wind through Pisac, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo, before reaching Aguas Calientes.
It will begin with a morning departure from Cusco, driving through the Andean landscape towards Pisac. The route to Pisac offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys. In Pisac, we will explore its famous archaeological site, known for its impressive terraced hillsides and Incan ruins. This location, at an altitude of 2,972 m (9,751 ft), will provide a spectacular vantage point of the Sacred Valley.
Next we will drive to Urubamba (2,871 m/9,419 ft), a charming town located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Here we will enjoy a leisurely lunch (not included in the package), to experience the local cuisine and culture.
Following lunch, we will continue to Ollantaytambo. This historic town, with an elevation of 2,792 m (9,160 ft), is home to some of the valley’s most well-preserved Inca ruins. We will spend time exploring the massive terraces and fortifications, gaining insights into the architectural mastery of the Incas.
Finally to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The travel by train from Ollantaytambo is a journey, that will reveal changing landscapes and the winding Urubamba River. On arrival at Aguas Calientes 2,040 m (6,690 ft), you’ll check into our hotel and have the evening free to explore the town or relax in preparation for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
