As dawn breaks, we’ll depart from Cusco, heading towards the picturesque Canas Province. The drive itself is an experience, winding through the majestic Andes. The views on offer will leave you spellbound. Cover approximately 160 km (about 100 mi) to reach our destination, a journey that will take around four hours. The route will present diverse landscapes, from urban to rural, to the unparalleled beauty of the Andean highlands.
Nearing the Qeswachaka Bridge, we will encounter the Apurimac River. The Q’eswachaka Inca Bridge is a traditional grass rope bridge. Located over the Apurimac River in Peru, It’s significant for its historical value, one of the only remaining examples of Incan bridge engineering.
Most tours to the Q’eswachaka Bridge start from Cusco. The journey usually involves a drive of a few hours through the Peruvian countryside.
Bring sunscreen, hats, comfortable walking shoes, water, snacks, and a camera. The weather can be variable, so dressing in layers is a good idea.
The bridge is safe to walk on. The local communities keep the bridge maintained all year round. Please note; the bridge is high above the river, if you have a fear of heights then reconsider taking this tour.
The annual reconstruction of the bridge is a significant cultural event, involving local communities in a ritual that dates back to Inca times. This usually takes place in June.
The tour is generally accessible to most people, but due to the altitude and the physical nature of the walk, it may not be suitable for those with serious health issues or mobility restrictions.
The tour typically lasts a full day, including travel time from and back to Cusco. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from May to September.

Client Cancellation:
To cancel, send a written notice to “69 Explorer.” The initial deposit is not refundable. Check your insurance for potential coverage for cancellation reasons.
Cancellations more than 15 days before departure result in a 50% deposit forfeiture. For cancellations between 7 and 15 days before departure, if full payment has been made, 50% of the total cost will be refunded. No refunds are given for cancellations less than 48 hours before departure or for partial tour cancellations.
Alterations/Cancellations by Us:
In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as technical issues, adverse weather, strikes, government actions, or civil disturbances, “69 Explorer” will try to provide alternative arrangements or equivalent trips, without offering refunds. Itinerary adjustments may be necessary, but we will aim to maintain the agreed services.
Significant changes will be communicated before your trip, with comparable alternative plans offered. Any additional costs from these changes are the client’s responsibility. We cannot compensate for expenses like international flights, visas, vaccinations, etc.
If “69 Explorer” cancels a tour, a full refund will be provided.

Liz was our guide for both our trip from Cusco to the Sacred Valley and also Machu Picchu. On our trip to Ollantaytambo, Liz and Juan Carlos (our driver) took us to Chinchero and stopped to see a textile demonstration, had lunch and drank chicha. We also made stops at Maras and Moray. Liz and Juan Carlos were both very friendly and informative. I would recommend them for this trip as we would have missed a lot of things otherwise. Liz also took us on two circuits of Machu Picchu. It was nice to have her walk us through the site as we didn't have to worry about any logistics. We could just relax and enjoy it &while she explained the highlights and answered our many questions.

All the staff in the trek were great and so hard working. The food was plentiful (more than we could eat), had lots of fresh vegetables and they accomodated dietary needs of our group.
