Highlights
1
Discover 7 glacier water fed lakes in the Vilcanota Range: Nested in the deep valleys in between the Apus Ausangate and Hatun Punta, the 7 lakes are unique in their own way. Different sizes, colors and altitude each.
2
A journey into the wild! The Ausangate national conservation area offers a variety of treks, hikes, summits and other experiences. Exploring the 7 lakes circuit is probably the most beautiful one. Being so vast and uncrowded, it remains as a scenario to spot wildlife, like viscachas, llamas, alpacas, vicunas, car acara falcons and even seldomly Andean condors.
3
Take a dip in Pacchanta hot springs: The water source comes from underground streams in the base of Ausangate. Naturally heated by geothermal energy deep underground in the Vilcanota Range.
Overview
Explore The 7 Lakes Loop in Ausangate with e-bike in a Full Day Ride and witness dazzling glacial lakes!
Our off the beaten ride takes you to the bewildering circuit of 7 lakes, which hugs the gigantic Apu Mountain of Ausangate (6384m/20945ft). We bike through the spectacular high elevation Vilcanota Mountain range, passing herds of llamas, alpacas and possibly the protected vicuñas, as well as indigenous Quechua speaking communities. The scenery is unrivaled, combining glacial peaks, rushing rivers and of course the stunning 7 lakes all 4500m above sea level.
To end this unique experience, we will visit the soothing and medicinal hot springs in Pacchanta to soak in our tired muscles before our long drive back to Cusco. On our 7 Lakes of Ausangate Full Day E-bike Tour, we get you away from the crowds to a place where everything seems untouched and undiscovered.
A family friendly experience, that covers all of the 7 lakes and takes you thru the best scenery of the Vilcanota Range. A real backcountry adventure in the Andes.

The 7 Lakes Loop in Ausangate with e-bike is probably our most scenic ride, filled with snow-capped peaks, lakes, wild llamas and alpacas and the most beautiful alpine landscapes.
For this ride, we will start early in Cusco. We will pick you up at 6am and drive to Pacchanta, about 3 hours away. Once we get there, we will enjoy an energizing breakfast.
Next thing will be our briefing of the day, covering safety instructions, explanations about the trail and a crash course on e-bike’s riding. Time to ride bikes!
The first part of the ride is gradual climb along a stream. Keep in mind this is a shared trial with hikers and horseback riders, so remember to be courteous. Once we get to a punchy climb, we will start to see less trail users. After conquering our first summit, the trail will turn slightly flatter.
The second part of our ride will take us to the Blue Lake, Lake Azulcocha. At approximately 4610m/15125ft a combination between altitude and mesmerizing views, will make this experience an unreal one.
The third segment, another punchy climb, of the ride will take us along the male and female otorongos. These smaller bodies of water take their names from a mountain feline. Locals believe they have male or female spirits. The otorongos have deep blue, crystal waters. They are used by locals for ceremonial baths.
The fourth segment of the ride will consist of a number of light climbs followed by some descending. This segment will let us explore the top lakes: Patococha, Pucacocha, Alqacocha and Qomercocha. Each one of these lakes have a characteristic coloring, due to the variety of minerals in the area’s soil and the water coming from the glaciers. We will reach 4710m/15453ft at this point.
Our final segment of the ride traverses a flattish trail, followed by a flowy descent all the way to the hot springs in Pacchanta.
Throughout the entire ride we will be surrounded by the Vilcanota Mountain Range, and passing by local shepherds, herding their flocks of llamas and alpacas. Keep your eyes peeled for Condors as well!
After our muscles have relaxed and the warmth has reached out bones, the chef will be calling us for lunch. Finally, we will drive back to Cusco, estimated arrival at 6pm.
We do also offer the hiking option to the 7 Lakes Trek
